Balloon Invitations

Love this helium balloon invitation from On Hand Modern. She says the helium didn’t stay in the water balloon for more than a few minutes but I think if you used these tiny balloons it might work–they last a couple hours. Long enough to deliver the invitation and get the right effect. I love this idea so much I wish I’d thought of it.

[A tip: use very thin thread when working with small balloons since even a normal sized string weighs them down.]

Hip Hip Hooray

I’m excited to announce the launch of Hip Hip Hooray. It is a clever and organized website that covers children’s birthday parties. I will be a contributor alongside some amazing people (See my baby picture here). Hip Hip Hooray is the brainchild of Suann of Simplesong Design and with her unfailing eye you know it is going to be good.

30 Balloons

Suzanne‘s friends threw her a 30th birthday party with a 30 balloon send off. More pictures here. And more information about the party here.

Birthday Tree

Here is a little birthday tree I made for a friend. You could use this concept for any special occasion.(It could easily be an “anniversary-tree” or a “having-a-bad-week-tree.” Basically, I decorated some Dogwood branches with sparkly flowers and ribbons and hung pretty treats in the branches. I really love party poppers but they are so darn ugly. Solution? Spray Paint them gold! I also put little presents and notes in the boxes for her to open each day. (Am I the only one who likes to drag out my birthday celebration?) If you did a group present you could ask everyone to bring something to hang from the tree (like a note or small present or candy.) And after all the hullabaloo is over it looks pretty just sitting there on its own.

I’ll post more detailed instructions later this week.

Thank You

Aubrey made this video for her friends and family that did that Birthday Surprise. It is pretty amazing. (Click through to see the bigger version and it is better with sound.)
