A DIY Woodland Backdrop

by Michaela Egger

A woodland creatures party ideally takes place in the forest – somewhere in a sheltered clearing nestled in a charming woodland area. But not everybody is lucky enough to live near such a place. Or if they do, there’s always the chance of rain. So for a plan B, let’s take the party inside! To create that woodland feeling, you can bring in twigs, branches, moss and plants. And you can create this simple forest paper backdrop made with kraft paper and water color. A great DIY even for smaller children. (PS – Woodland party invitations!)

Popup Happy Birthday

By Ashley Page Norton

When I saw these silver foil Helvetica stickers, I knew I had to use them somehow! This popup happy birthday message would look great set up on a coworker’s desk or as a surprise somewhere around the house (like in a medicine cabinet or on top of a dresser). You can customize the message by adding the recipients’s name or changing it to say whatever you like. It would also be cute to mail them to a long distance birthday boy or girl – they can unscramble the letters and set them up wherever they want!

Paper Net Garland DIY

by Kathleen Ballos

Aren’t vintage craft books the best? Some of the projects can be a bit outdated but you can find some real gems as well! This garland was inspired by Christmas tree decorations in an old Girl Scout craft book that I was thrilled to get my hands on. They’re so easy to whip up and you likely already have all the supplies.

It’s easy to stress over decorations when planning a party. I sometimes let my mind get carried away and convince myself that EVERYTHING needs to be decorated when in reality, my favorite parties are simple, low stress events. This foam board number cut out that has been covered with spiral paper flowers will give your space a nice festive feel and won’t cause any undue stress when it’s time to decorate.
