Question about a bed

I’ve looked at other beds but I keep coming back to this one. Does anyone own this bed? Not a similar bed, but this actual bed? If you do and you have a second, could you please answer the following questions in the comments section.

A. Do you like it?
B. Is it wobbly? {Specifically the 4 poster part?}
C. On a scale of 1-10 how happy are you with it?
D. Is there anything additional you would like to say about it?

Hi Jordan! I don´t own this bed, but since I think not many people have it (it´s quite new), I want to say few things. Almost two years ago we bought the cheapest bed in Ikea and we are very happy with it. It helps a lot to go to the store and try to shake the bed a bit (but maybe you can´t do that). I really like the bed too and also think it´s practical, because of its hight and the full headboard.
Hope someone will give you a better advice.

i also highly suggest hunting down the bed in person and giving it a good “lay down and rock” it gives you a good sense of how it takes general up and down wear.

My friend wanted that very same bed, and trekked to IKEA to check it out. She was very disappointed – it was flimsy, shook a lot when you touched it, and you could see a lot of the wood knots and such through the stain – not as cute as in the picture. You can ask her about it, if you want, her blog is littlegreennotebook.blogspot.com

    Good luck.

    Hi Jordan-
I have never posted here but read your blog daily and just love it! We do have this actual bed. We bought it in August for our little girl and we adore it. Ours is not wobbly and I love it as much as ever. A 10!

    Oh, Jordan. Ikea beds. No.

I had one for less than a year and right in the middle of… well, my husband and I were… Um… “visiting” with one another, and it fell apart. 100% BROKE! Metal bent, wood splintered, and we nearly killed the dog. I have bruises and got pretty hurt.

It was FUNNY, but I can’t recommend you get an IKEA bed.

I think I may have had the same bed as Jana… when I first graduated college, I bought one of the very cheapest beds IKEA sells, and I loved it. It was very sturdy, but lightweight and easy to move (crucial in those new-roommate-every-few-months years).

    Hi Jordan,

We bought this bed after seeing it in this exact shot in Blueprint months ago. It’s an absolute dream. We’re both really happy with it and my husband was concerned it might be wobbbly too, but after his many tests (consisting of him shaking the bed to see if it will squeak or wobble) it’s still going strong! There is a little give since that 4-poster part is not made of heavy wood, but it’s been fine. We ended up getting the nicer sets of wood slats that support the mattress (the hassleback from ikea is inexpensive and comfortable) and those slats provide a great amount of support, making the bed super-comfy. It’s also got a really strong metal beam/bar that runs down the center, and i am thinking that this is what makes the bed so it isn’t wobbly. i love the bed because it actually looks handmade, even though you’re basically slapping everything together with metal fittings on the inside. and there is something about the yellow, geometric look of it all, just very contemporary without screaming “i bought this at ikea!”. i actually saw this in a magazine recently but they had painted it white–it looked gorgeous. the height and higher headboard is a nice plus, too. good luck with your decision!

Room and Board has a couple of four-poster options that are bound to be better constructed, albeit more pricey… here and here. They’re metal frames, not wood, but give a similar effect.

{delurking} … I saw this bed in IKEA a couple of months ago and couldn’t stop thinking about it. I went back and bought it (queen sized) and am very happy with it. We’ve only been using it for a few weeks, but it seems very sturdy. There are visible knots in the wood — it is stained yellow rather than covered in opaque paint. I bought it thinking I might paint it eventually, but the yellow stain is pretty nice just how it is. We currently have a boxspring and 15″ pillowtop mattress on it and it is *tall*. I think we will get the wooden slats and a latex mattress from IKEA eventually — and that will lower it considerably. Good luck!

not sure about the sturdiness, but visually it’s beautiful! and for that price, a great value! maybe it won’t last a lifetime, but i’m sure it will beautify your life for enough years to make it worthwhile (:

I love blueprint and I want this bed too! Isn’t it from IKEA? Four posters are sooo awesome.

I don’t have this bed, but I have tried it out. It wasn’t flimsy, but I wasn’t too haappy with the color. I would probably paint it if I buy it.

I like the idea of IKEA, but never again, NEVER will I buy a bed there. Those dern slats under the mattress are always falling through (which I fixed with heavy duty velcro, very unpleasant process) and the beds themselves are quite flimsy. It’s pretty though, if that makes it not smart as much 🙂
