I like “E”. It looks like a purse.
    I can’t stand diaper bags.

I have the Kate Spade bag…..very cute indeed but not very practical. The sides hold one bottle each and inside has no compartments. It’s just a big empty square! If you have an upset baby who needs something ASAP, this bag usually makes the ASAP part very difficult.

ps. the JJ Cole Essentials Travel Pod Set turns any bag into a “diaper bag”. i’ll blog about.

Great options!!! whatever one you go with, you might want to consider if you can wipe it clean or not.
I also agree w/ the compartments suggestion- knowing where something is (or should be) is helpful w/ a fussy little one.

I love “B” and “C.” Actually, I never bothered with a diaper bag. I never missed it!

Three kids later I recommended a bag that is stylish, washable, and the only pocket you need is a side pocket for a pacifier. Too many compartments and you won’t be able to remember where you stuck what anyway. Get a bag you love that is big enough for a bottle, diaper, baggie of wipes, small blanket, and a baggie for “trash” and heck that should do it!

I like “b” size and shape are great and you will be able to get right in there and “dig” to find what you need!

And note on “structure”…if it has too much structure–depending on your stroller, it can be difficult to squish it underneath.

Use a regular purse. At hospital they usually give you a very ugly diaper bag, throw it away and keep the changing pad. Stick it in your purse, and there you have it a new diaper bag. A used my LV Speedy. But it was my second child, so I packed less.

I vote for a large-ish fashionable purse!! I bought a big diaper bag before my son was born, but only use it when we go on trips. I put a disposable changing pad, a couple diapers, a pack of disposable wipes, a snack, a sippy cup/bottle, and a pacifier in a big zip-lock and throw it in my purse. I think it is nice to have one bag within a bag instead of a bunch of pockets…it really eliminates digging around in “my big black hole”. (And I’m SURE you can find something more fashionable than a zip-lock bag…I’ve just never gotten around to it!)

P.S. We try to be eco-friendly…and use those disposable changing pads a few times (if nothing gets on them of course), and have only used a pack and a half in 21 months.

After 3 kids, I have a little advice. I agree with you on the whole not-looking-like-a-diaper-bag thing. Agreed. Just don’t buy a leather bag–a nice purse you’ll use “after” like I did one time. Formula leaks despite your best efforts and crumbs somehow make their way in and meanwhile your nice bag becomes less nice each time. I’ve purchased a different one with each child and this last time I found the JJCole Systems bag. My favorite thing about are these straps attached to the bag that attach onto anything–and don’t slide. Perfect for the Maclaren Easy Traveler or any stroller for that matter. Good luck!

i vote for the white one, as a white bag somehow screams “i’m not a diaper bag”…

i did a nice large white leather tote from Club Monaco with both of my girls and i felt very glam (as glam as a sad, sleep deprived lady with baby puke on her shirt can feel) schlepping that around.

I hate to tell you this, but you’ll want one that attaches to your stroller. Nothing like having to carry a bag and push a stroller…

i love the kate spade diaper bags … i have been buying them for my sister-in-laws for the last couple of years … if you are interested we have a kate spade outlet here in chicago and id be happy to help you out :0) much much much cheaper – i have been getting them the messenger bag ones for around $120

ps i have the tote from jcrew and its not very sturdy – so it would probably flop over with all your baby lovelies in it :0)

I have the Kate Spade #1 bag and here is my input. The interior is great (and GREEN!) with pockets for bottles on each end, a zipper pocket, and pockets along the other side for diapers and wipes. The interior is also plastick-y for easy clean up. And it comes with a darling polka-dot changing pad. On the down side. The exterior is WHITE canvas, and can get worn and dirty. Even with proactive efforts with a can of scotch guard. I do love the open structure and long straps that you can easily sling over your shoulder on the run. Good luck!

I have a 9 month old and used my Kate Spade diaper bag for about 2 weeks before I gave up and searched for something better. I settled on a ju ju be bag and I could not be happier; it’s the best diaper bag ever! You can check them out here: http://ju-ju-be.com (Nordstroms has them as well)

I think Orla Kiely sling bags make great diaper bags – the oil cloth finish is wipeable and you can wear it over the body for when you need your hands free!

Great options! I am on the go a lot, so it is important for me to have the ability to grab a bottle or something quick in a front pocket without having to rummage. Keep in mind if you travel much, it is super nice to attach a bag to stroller handles.

Try the one that is a diaper bag at http://www.markaonline.com. It is so stylish that although it was designed as a diaper bag, it doesn’t even have to be.

oh, that was my eternal quest with my 4 kids. my husband bought cute ones, coach, kate spade, i would try, and return. the main problem with any that are cute, the shoulder straps are too small and the bag goes right under your arm. try carrying them, and then think about carrying a baby at the same time! in the end, i just got a cute purse! good luck!

Mine fits your criteria and I love it. It is by Not Rational. Definitely check it out. I have that one and the Marc by Marc Jacobs diaper bag. The Marc Jacobs one is useless. The Not Rational one zips at the top which I love because things won’t fall out. It has a front pocket for diapers, four compartments for bottles and two hooks for pacifiers. Love it!

I have both A. and B. and I’ll tell you I love love love my kate spade bag….it’s our church bag on it’s nice to have one big bag to hold everything in there during sacrament meeting. The j.crew bag is also a great one because you want TONS OF SPACE!! there are inserts that are made for any purse that can divide and turn any purse into a diaper bag. I also have one other diaper bag that I use when using a stroller…it clips onto the stroller at a height that allows me to get my wallet out, my coin purse, my kids snacks etc. without bending down or carrying the bag on my arm. The brand is SKIPHOP and it has won awards! Sorry for the novel…

My sister-in-law got hers at Target…I wanted one just like it for my non-baby self! They have a great selection of diaper bags that don’t look at all like diaper bags! Even ones her husband didn’t mind carrying around!

    Have you seen this?
    http://www.babooshbaby.com/

Brooke Burke has her own line of baby stuff after churning out 4 babies and still looking toned and fine. She’s got a diaper bag made out of recycled sails that says “I’m a recycled Diaper Bag” that’s kinda cute. She’s also got those belly wrap things that historically get your belly back to normal faster. And stretch mark oil. And seeing that woman in a bikini after 4 kids makes me think she knows some stuff….
