Office Chair

I finally bought an office chair. We have been using dining chairs and for people who make their living working on a computer this is not an acceptable arrangement. Our list of priorities go something like this:

1. Price Range $400-$600
2. Comfort
3. Aesthetic

It sounds sort of silly but this has been the hardest decision. I look at it as an investment but I didn’t want to spend towards the high end of the range unless it was the perfect chair. I know everyone raves about the Herman Miller chairs but I’ve used them at work and while comfortable I never thought they were very esthetically pleasing. I love the Eames Aluminum Management Series {especially the high back one} but $1200 was a little too much for me to pay for the original {someday, but not now.} Conundrum!

I researched all the knock-offs and finally decided on this Eames knock off for $350 {including shipping.} If it is remotely as comfortable as the original then we’ll be in luck. Otherwise we’ll have to return it and I’ll be back to square one.

IBM’s headquarters are here in Raleigh,NC and about 2 months ago, they did this huge auction of lots of old ofice furniture they had, and they sold like 100 eames chairs – originals! so all of a sudden there was a big influx of them on our craigslist, and ebay.

anyways, i got two for $100, and we love them. extremely comfy!

I look forward to your review Jordan. As it is now, I also use the dining chair and the aching back to prove it.

There is one for $259 here. Not sure how much shipping is though, and I can’t attest to the comfort.

I don’t think its silly. Choosing a chair that is aesthetically pleasing and ergonomic is hard to do.
