Heritage 1981

One frustrating thing about Forever 21 is the quality of the clothing. I hate it when I find something really cute but the quality is just so bad. Because everything is so cheap I can’t really complain, but sometimes I wish they were just a tiny bit better quality. Well, as it turns out the folks at Forever 21 were thinking the same thing. They’ve began a new line of stores called Heritage 1981. They have a store open in LA but its hard to find more information than that. Here is an article from the Los Angeles Business Journal.

While Forever 21 stores are sprawling, packed with merchandise and” designed to appeal to young ladies and their mothers, the new stores have a tighter focus and higher-quality clothing.

Heritage clothing, priced between $25 and $50, is made of natural fibers, in contrast to Forever 21’s clothes, which are usually priced in the $15 range. Half of the Heritage clothes are men’s; all of the Forever 21 items are for women.

Heritage clothes are classically inspired, woven pieces with colorful prints and plaids, knits and carefully faded denim Notably absent are career clothes and clubbing duds.

If you are in LA go check it out and report back. I’m so curious.

very cool! sorry i keep commenting on your blog (i hope you don’t mind) it’s just so cute and easily commentable. or commendable.

anyway, i LOVE forever 21 but hate how all their clothes are so scrappy. this is a great tip, too bad they don’t have an online store.

The Forever 21 store here in SF has men’s clothing … and baby clothing!

i think forever 21 is making some strides in the quality category – most of their jackets are lined these days, or at least the seams are finished all cute … so at least they are trying to pay attention to some details.

You can’t expect much from a sweater you pick up for $15: what you get out of it is good design, and a few rounds of wearing before the buttons pop off. But better quality for only $10-$20 more? Even better!

Great find! I’m excited! Can you tell?! If you hear when the online shop opens, be sure to post, please. 🙂

There is a Heritage 1981 in Pembroke Mall in Pembroke Pines, Florida. I was impressed by their selection and the men’s clothing wasn’t too pricey.

I work at the only Heritage 1981 in Georgia, and it is what the Company is calling a “Concept” store. We didn’t even have a sign until recently…

All of the women’s clothes are Heritage line but most of the Men’s Clothes are still Twenty One Men’s, which you can find in larger Forever 21 stores…

Slowly we are getting more Heritage Line Men’s clothing, and once they are done designing the line I’m sure the website will open.

There’s one in Woodfield shopping center in Schaumburg, Illinois. I happened to discover it today, completely by surprise, and I was amazed! At first I didn’t know it was linked with Forever 21, and I thought to myself that it seemed like a cross between Forever 21 and J. Crew. The things are preppy but in a laid back, faded kind of way. Very cute, and not expensive at all.

i just spent 3 hours in the heritage 1981 store at the beverly center. When I first walked in, I thought oh it’s another forever21 but I soon discovered that it was way better! Their clothes are original and SO cute! considering they don’t have a website and so few stores…i bought everything I could knowing that other girl in the mall wouldn’t have the same thing! Plus the quality is better than that of its sister company.

hey i just ran accross this blog looking for more info about this store, there is one at a Montgomery mall in or around Bethesda Maryland. They have nice stuff. The mens wear is cool, original stuff you don’t see at other stores and I like that. Plus it is pretty cheap. Good on them. I also found this site but it isn’t up and running yet. http://www.heritageclothingcompany.com

i went there yesterday.. but they mostly just had forever 21 accessories and clothes.. but they had a couple women’s heritage peices.. which you could tell were of way better quality than forever21.. no mens stuff at all yet.. but you can tell this store is going to be many people’s new favorite. i’m excited for the store to take off and get a website up.

They have some amazing stuff. I’ve already hit that place up like 5 times and got some great stuff. I’ve never ever shopped at a store where I love everything (well for the most part). I can construct an outfit (like the one I’m wearing now) with what they have in the store. The style is just in sync with mine. I love it. But I’m already desperately for more clothes. But it still seems, at least at the stores where I was, that women’s wear continues to dominate, occupying at least 75% at Montgomery Mall, and probably 80% at Pentagon City, nevertheless one of the best and most reasonably priced shopping experiences I’ve ever found!

Just went to LA couple weeks ago, and discovered the “Heritage 1981” Store @ the Beverly Center. At first I didn’t even realized that it’s related to Forever21 until I noticed they had the same type of price tag. It is much more low key than Forever21. While Forever 21 has more bright colors, trendy clothes gear toward younger people, I found that Heritage has more solid pieces that can last for more than one season. The quality is definately better. Now I just wish they would open more stores across the country.

i live in LA, i swear by this store. its an offshoot of the stuff on the forever21/mens section really: affordable, plain solids that last forever stylistically. i bought literally 7 dress shirts between the site and store, i am set for the year and more to come. the fits are all slimmer, perfect for me. garments are all made in india, perfect for me cuz im indian (?). anyway, i hope both ventures start doing way more mens stuff. really the one stop shop for the basics.

HERITAGE 1981 DOES HAVE AN ONLINE STORE! You can find it at Forever 21.com. It’s not that big yet but you still can get a few things out of it. They didn’t really post the clothes that are original pieces but its a start.

forever21.com has their stuff. Also, some stores as well carry H81 stuff. I personally don’t think the quality is better and I think they’re ugly as well. Anyway, go to Forever21.com and decide for yourself.

There is a Heritage 1981 here at the Mall of America. I went in there and bought two hoodies for 20$ each. There is also a Forever 21 here but its only for women… and I always see the hottest ones go in there *drools*. I’d say the quality is on Express Men scale, with a nice price.

The store is awesome really. But my friend likes to spend his money on expensive clothing, like it matters to anyone. Made fun of me for it, saying he doesn’t wanna go in because he might get ticks. Well, its like the guy with a small dick that buys an expensive sports car, he’s compensating for something.

I just discovered this store today and I am absolutely ecstatic. I spent about $100 and bought 9 tops and a sweater. You can’t beat that! Not to mention everything was SO CUTE and my style. I liked everything in the store, so much so that I had to make 4 trips to the dressing room, each time with my arms over-flowing with clothes. The sales lady was starting to make fun of me :-). I’d say the clothing is a fix of Forever 21, American Eagle, J Crew, and Urban Outfitters. Everything is top quality, adorable, and cheap. And, well organized (poor organization being one thing I couldn’t stand about Forever 21). I know where I’ll be buying all MY clothes from no on!

two of my daughters and i found this store at the beverly center while on the way to H&M. We loved it! With four daughters i was really excited with the prices at heritage 1981, reminding us of urban outfitters which is sooo much more expensive.

I was hoping to find a website to buy clothes from so I don’t have to drive 4 hours to Des Moines, IA to shop at Heritage. I love the clothes, but I agree that the quailty it a bit less than I’d hoped for. My only other problem is that some items are tagged with the wrong size…I think I’m trying on a small and it’s really a large, be careful and check your tags!

i just stumbled upon one of these wonderful stores today in the king of prussia mall in PA. GOODNESS it’s the best-fitting, cutest clothing i’ve ever seen. i spent almost $200. But i got like 5 pairs of pants, two hoodies, a blouse, a pair of undies and a bracelet. yeah. under $200 for all that. i’m in love!

I’ll be interviewing at a Heritage store next week, and I’d like to find out, from someone who works in the company, what the appearance standards are. I have a full beard, and I’d hate to shave it and find out that they don’t mind facial hair.

so i went to Beverly Center yesterday in LA just to kill some time before dinner, and was walking around until this store caught my eye. I had never heard about it before, but I thought the clothes looked great. I ended up buying a shirt on sale for $7 that was originally $22 and it was super soft because it had 8% cashmere in it. I think this place is an awesome find, i just hope I can find another store thats closer!

First, the store at the Beverly center looks NOTHING like a forever 21…the store is a cross between hollister and urban outfitters. There are tons of cute and unique tops, sweaters, and dresses for girls. In the mens section, there are nice and affordable jeans and jackets. Overall, great store!! Unfortunately, the minute it becomes comercialized it will become another mundane chain store.

The closests Heritage 1981 to me here in the Bay Area is in Concord's Sun Valley Mall.

I just bought something that's a cross between a zippered hoodie and a muscle shirt. It's white so it'll go with just about anything, including nothing below. I like it a lot, I don't have anything else like it.

I also like their shirts with these button down flaps that run along the shoulders.

I've been told turning 40 means a second time at being a teenager. I was 15 in 1981, so this time hopefully I do it right!
