Graduation Announcements

My husband graduated from college last year but he hated the typical graduation announcements that his school was sending out. We quickly decided to send out our own and he had one requirement – it had to be funny.

Our original concept was him holding a fistful of cash, which could either represent the insane amount of money we paid for his degree or the fact that he’d finally be making money. But that turned out lame so in the end, we sent out two other versions.

The first was a photo of him against a too perfect sky, but it was missing something. I googled and found an image of an owl with a cap and tassel and then Photoshopped it on his shoulder. We couldn’t stop giggling – he looked like a graduation pirate.

The second was a photo I took of him jumping. I found a silly background from istockphoto that only cost me a few dollars and voila!

We printed them on postcards and mailed them out to friends and family. We definitely received some strange reactions. Basically our friends adored them but our parents and grandparents didn’t get it. I don’t care – I still giggle just looking at them.
