Stealing Ideas from Domino

This layout was in Domino a few months ago and I was super inspired by it. They call it “on a shoestring” but a lot of the pieces are still out of my budget. Still, I appreciate the ideas and there is lots to copy here.

1. Magnetic Board
Since Liz Reimschiissel (one of my college roommates) had one of these up on her walls I haven’t lived in a house without one. Go to your nearest Home Depot, ask for sheet metal, cough up $7 and it is yours. My huge 3’x 4′ frame from Pictureframes.com arrived on Wednesday. I assembled it last night and it looks just like the picture.

2. Tall Drapes
Our Victorian apartment has really high ceilings. I copied this trick and hung my drapes at the very top of the wall so it would have an elongated effect.

3. Mirror Fireplace
We have a fireplace that is non functioning so the landlord put up this big weird metal hearth thing. I love the mirror-in-the-fireplace idea. This is one of my long term goals for our place. It would make our small living room seem bigger.

Ooo! We don’t even have a non-working fireplace but I would love to get that set-up with a mirror anyway.

These rooms are very inspiring. I’d love to have a pretty pink living room. I know Nate would object since it was pulling teeth to get him to wear his ever-so-chic pink tie at our wedding. He looked so cute that day.
