Fat Fingers

You would be surprised how many people spell the titles and descriptions of their listings on eBay incorrectly, which usually means that no one can search for or find them – so of course those items get fewer to no bids. Which is why any eBay aficionado should know about Fat Fingers.

Just type in the item you are searching for, and Fat Fingers will find all sorts of common misspellings for the term to see if anyone’s poor spelling will score you a deal. You will be amazed how many people can’t spell “Anthropologie.”

sometimes I spell words wrong when searching – you end up getting a better deal since no one can find their listing.

If you prefer to get your search results via RSS I can recommend an alternative site called Missing-Auctions.com (http://www.missing-auctions.com).

Once you’ve created a search and subscribed to it you’ll be notified via RSS as soon as a misspelled item matching your search is listed on the eBay site of your choice.

It’s not exactly Web 2.0 but it does mean that you don’t have to keep going back to eBay or other sites time and time again.
