Aprons

When I got back to my desk from lunch yesterday there was a box on my desk with this light blue apron in it! I helped my friend Bethany with some moving cards last week and she gave me this darling apron as a thank you present! Hooray for presents.

Even with my limited sewing skills I think I could make some cute aprons. I have all that gorgeous fabric from Repro Depot. I’m going to experiment this weekend and if they turn out I think I’ll give them as Christmas presents.

My friend gave me a copy of Details Magazine (written for boys) and in there was this article about aprons and how men adore aprons and think they’re super sexy but feel sexist giving them as gifts to their wives or girlfriends but now times are a changing and women love aprons and men love that women love aprons.

    yay for aprons!

How is it that we are doing the same thing for christmas presents? I’ve been planning since last year. I got a sewing machine for Christmas last year and I’ve been gathering material and cute ricrac and pom poms as special details. All our friends will be so cute in their new aprons.

One other thing – you should do a post on moving announcements. I’d love to see some fresh ideas.

    love,

Okay, I promise this is my last post about aprons.

e-Bay sells the cutest vintage patterns for aprons. And they’re pretty cheap – all seem to be going for under $8 (including shipping). As easy as aprons seem to figure out, I’d prefer a pattern.

I promise to shut up now.

Well if my pillows are any indication of how the aprons will turn out then don’t plan on me giving them to anyone. My sewing skills are pretty rusty..

Long-time lurker, I love your style and have found so many wonderful inspirations in your posts!

My friend and I run a side business selling aprons http://www.meghannandjo.com, and not to let the secret out but they really are quite simple to sew! and we modified our patterns from vintage ones we found on ebay. It’s top-stitching on the ric-rac that’s truly admirable.

and ditto to what Details says, my boyfriend loves ’em too, even though he’s the one that cooks 🙂
