Four years ago a spent a few months living with my sister in Tuckahoe, NY. The house was darling. It was also right next to the train tracks. After the second day I rarely noticed the gentle shake of the house every 40 minutes or 20 minutes (depending on the peak hours). This prepared me for my apartment here in San Francisco. The N Judah goes right in front of my building. Just like in New York, I stopped noticing the rumbling after a few days. The only problem is once in a while I do notice it and since I live in San Francisco I ALWAYS think its a earthquake. Last night I was doing the dishes when I realized everything was shaking. My heart started beating faster and I ran to the doorway. When I got to the doorway I could hear the bell on the train.

You’d think I’d catch on after a year.
