Red and White Candy Stripe Party

One of our favorite ways to come up with a theme is to take a single element and play it all the way up! This festive party was inspired by the classic stripes of a Christmas candy cane. We layered all of our favorite red and white party supplies, and added accents of pink and mint. Read on to see the whole party!

Candy cane garlands are always a sweet touch! And you can have guests take a few home with them at the end of the night! Don’t forget to crush a few to sprinkle on cakes, cupcakes, and offer at the hot chocolate bar!

We made a bold, graphic candy stripe photobooth using a single roll of red contact paper. It’s super affordable, and an easy way to make an impact. You can see how we put it together here!

Giant Cracker

Materials Needed: Large roll of heavy weight white paper, masking tape, ruler, pencil, x-acto knife, hot glue gun, wrapping paper roll, 1 ½” ribbon, scissors

Step 1: Cut a sheet of paper that is 40” wide and 24 ½” tall and tape to your work surface. You can scale this larger or smaller depending on how large you want your cracker to be.

Step 2: Measure 10 ¾” in on both sides of the paper and draw a vertical line. Mark the midpoint and bisect space vertically. Divide the inner half of the section in half once more. You should end up with 3 vertical lines. Repeat for the other side of the paper.

Step 3: Starting with one side of the paper, fold along the outer and innermost vertical lines so the ends are tucked under the large sheet of paper. Unfold both lines. Fold the center line back then draw one half triangle on both ends of the paper, with the base of the triangle at the fold, and eight evenly spaced triangles. Leave ¼” of space between the base of each triangle. The base of our triangles measured about 2 ¼”. Repeat for the other side of the paper.

Step 4: Cut out each triangle with scissors, then unfold the paper. You should end up with 8 full diamond shapes sandwiched between two half diamonds.

Step 5: Re-crease the folds so that the two outer lines form peaks and the line running through the center of the diamonds is a valley. Roll the paper to form a tube so that the diamond portions cinch in. Overlap the ends of the tube and hot glue to secure. You now have a cracker!

Step 6: Measure and cut a piece of wrapping paper that is big enough to fit around the center section of the cracker. Measure and cut two more pieces of wrapping paper to go around the ends of the cracker. Hot glue the wrapping paper to the cracker.

Step 7: Cinch the ends of the cracker with a ribbon to secure. Tie a bow and trim the ribbon ends to points. Your cracker is complete!
