Sprinkle Balloon Backdrop DIY

Awhile back we came up with the fantastic idea of making giant ‘sprinkles’ out of balloons to create an awesome photo booth backdrop. Today we teamed up with Baskin-Robbins, who recently launched their new Warm Cookie Ice Cream Sandwich, and decided this would be the perfect opportunity to bring to life our photo booth idea. We love photo booths because they’re a simple way to sandwich people together and break the ice at a party.

For this DIY, you’ll only need a few things: these balloons, this pump, and gaffer’s tape or blue tack. Once you have the supplies, the backdrop comes together quickly (in less than an hour!) When the party starts, provide a few props for people to or pose with.

Materials Needed: 160Q Latex balloons (in orange, yellow, pink, magenta, green, light green, blue, and white), balloon hand pump, scissors, scotch tape, gaffer’s tape

Step 1: Knot balloons into six equal sections (each about 1-1/2″ long).
Step 2: Pump air into the first section until it is about 4” long, then finish it with a knot. Cut the inflated section off as close to the knot as possible, and repeat until you have six sprinkle-shaped balloons.
Step 3: Tape the nubs on the ends of the balloons down with a small piece of Scotch tape.
Step 4: Repeat Steps 1-3 with the different color balloons until you have about a hundred sprinkles.
Step 5: Tape the balloons to the wall with a tiny loop of artist’s tape — and voilà!

I never thought of using balloons as a backdrop idea. I love it! It would also be great for when I take pictures for my blog.
