DIY Flower Straws

It’s almost spring! It’s been such a cold winter that I really can’t wait for the warmer weather to finally come. These paper flower straw decorations are perfect for a spring party! Not only are they a fun way to decorate for your party, but they’ll also help your guests remember which cup is theirs! (Flower lover? Make these flower hats too!)

Supplies: Green card stock, flower colored card stock, scissors, pencil, pen, green straws, hot glue gun

Step 1: On the green card stock, trace  and cut a circle (about 1 1/4″ in diameter – a large glue stick lid works well!), cut a smaller circle out of the center, and cut a wedge out of the whole thing, as shown below. Draw and cut a leaf 1 3/4″ long with a 1 3/4″ stem.
Step 2: On the petal colored paper, draw and cut petal shapes about 2 1/4″ long. Depending on how wide you cut them, you’ll need 5 to 7 petals per flower. Play around with different petal shapes for each flower.
Step 3: Roll the green circle into a cone around the straw and hot glue closed so that it stays in place on the straw.
Step 4: Hot glue the petals onto the inside of the green bud, keeping them evenly spaced.
Step 5: Write your guest’s name onto the leaf, wrap the stem around the straw and hot glue onto the back of the leaf.

These are so cute! I’m trying to think of an excuse to throw a party so I can make these for me and my friends! (Do you really need an excuse to throw a party? I guess I could throw one for no reason!)

So clever! My daughter would LOVE these! Or are these more for grownups because they’re made from paper? Pinning!
