The new year is around the corner and a perfect way to get excited for the brand new year is to create a fun and festive 2014 garland. You can customize your garland to coordinate with your holiday décor or create a garland using your favorite color palette as inspiration and keep it hanging all year long. Try backing the cut-out numbers in pretty patterned paper, holiday gift wrap, glitter paper, or fabric.
Materials: Cardstock, Printer, X-Acto knife, cutting mat, ruler, gluestick, glitter cardstock, 1/8” hole punch, twine
Step 1: Print the numbers 2, 0, 1, 4 onto 4.25”x 5.5” pieces of cardstock.
Step 2: Use X-Acto knife to cut out the numbers from the cardstock. (Note: For the numbers “0” and “4”, make sure to keep the interior cut out portions of the numbers, which will later be glued onto the glitter cardstock.)
Step 3: Cut out four 4.5”x5.75” pieces of glitter cardstock.
Step 4: Place glue on the backside of the cut-out number and adhere it to the glitter cardstock. Glue interior portions of the numbers “0” and “4” onto the glitter cardstock.
Step 5: Use 1/8” hole punch and punch two holes on each side of the numbers.
Step 6: String twine through the holes to create the banner, leaving 12” on each end of the banner.

I write a leave a response when I especially enjoy a post on a site or

leave a thought 😛 I actually do have a couple of questions for you if it’s allright.

I always psych myself up and plan an elaborate New Years Eve party and then I remember that all my friends want to do is keg stands and jell-o shots, and I remember that it’s all for nothing. I enjoy your blog. Very grateful to you for this lovely idea. I have been wanting to get to this for a couple of weeks now. Finally, I was able to work on it this morning as the kids slept in from being up late to bring in the new year. I added some “dots” with affirmation words of things that we want to focus on as a family, such as: courage, joy, family, and so on. Thanks for the inspiration!
