Happy Easter! Here is a project that is a cute little addition to an easter basket. These paper carrots are so easy they will honestly take you ten minutes and you probably already have everything you need to make these at home. Really. Thanks to my sweet niece Emma for helping me!

Materials Needed: Orange Paper, Green Paper, Tape, Scissors, Treats
Step 1: Take an 8.5 x 11 sheet of orange paper and cut it in half. I tried this with card stock and regular paper and it worked great with both.
Step 2: Fold into a cone and secure with tape.
Step 3: Fill with treats (mini eggs for me!)
Step 4. Fold down the tallest corner first and then fold down the other sides until the top is closed.
Step 5. Cut strips of green paper and tape them to the top of the carrot.
Step 6. Roll them around your finger or curl them with a pair of scissors (like you would if it was ribbon) for a tighter curl.

(Yes, reading comments, I’ve seen cellophane wrapped gold fish & with orange jelly bellies looking like carrots, too, but I love your paper color tones today; you’ve “re-discovered” these in a beautiful way — jelly bellies and cheddar fish are non-existent in Sweden (most likely France too, n’est pas?) … and recently thought about the challenge of not having access to the party things that you usually do (in the US), makes me look at things a little differently and I love the creative challenge. Of course, there are local things that are unique to me but the entire party good market here is MINIMAL in comparison (to the US.) Do you feel the same in Paris & this experience abroad? I was recently reflecting on this with a recent birthday party. When I first moved to Sweden, I’d stuff my luggage with everything from teeny bubble packages, special muffin tins, ribbon & color coordinated jelly beans…. but I’m reformed — I just love the challenge seeing things completely fresh & original!
(OK… you are in Paris; oh the decorative sugars alone, I have loaded my luggage with from Bon Marche while visiting relatives!)

Lovely idea. This is how sweets used to be wrapped in England when I was a child. I agree with the comment that there are not a lot of ready made party goods available outside of the US but frankly when I first arrived here in mid america I was staggered at the ” ready made” aesthetic. It was everywhere including schools. As a teacher I imagined that every bulletin board in every elementary school acroos the country looked the same with pre made, purchased (and expensive) cut outs borders etc.. So, bravo for the resurgence of The Homemade and the interest in crafts and thank you for this delightful tutorial.
