Happy Weekend!

Happy happy weekend! I’m checking in again from our big trip. So far we’ve been to Barcelona, Madrid, Lisbon, and Salema. We crossed the border again from Portugal last night and now we are in Sevilla, Spain. This has been the best trip of my life! I feel really lucky we were able to do this. It is never convenient and there is never enough money to travel but sometimes you just have to make yourself go or else you’ll never do it. Yesterday we stood at the farthest southern tip of Portugal where at one point people thought the earth ended. I can totally understand why. It was breathtaking. We are spending the next few days in Sevilla before we head to the coast and Morocco. I hope you have a wonderful weekend. (ps I’m posting pictures in realtime on twitter: @jordanferney or instagram: @ohhappyday)

Here are a couple things I’ve been meaning to mention.

Wayfare Magazine was launched and it is ridiculously well designed! Bravo to Anne and everyone. (I make a tiny appearance)
Have you heard of The Cream? This wedding event looks amazing! Such a large group of talented people in one place.
Thanks to Hatch Collection for  spotlighting me! I’m obsessed with their clothes.
Here is what is on my bookshelf at Matchbook Magazine.
Nicole relaunched her blog a few weeks ago and it is beautiful! Congrats Nicole!
There are still a few Commission Project spots left! Have a painting commissioned for Mother’s Day!

I also write for Babble.com. Here are my posts this week.

Oh Sevilla! My dream city. Moved there after college because I fell in love with Flamenco (I was a dance major) and wanted to study there! You must must must go to Casa de la Memoria for a Flamenco show, the most amazing one in the city. They feature Flamenco as art, not Flamenco as tour groups want to see it. Get tickets early though as the shows do sell out. Oh so envious of your travels, have so much fun!!

I’m so glad you are doing all these wonderful trips. As you said you have to make yourself do it. My father served in Germany for 9 years as we were growing up and my parents took us to several places in Europe. 5 small children and 1 Mercedes. I am endlessly thankful they did. We always said we could always go back but its been 20 years since many of us have returned. We still hold so many of those memories dear to us.

Oh have fun in Sevilla, I loved it it is such a magical city, the old town where the Tower is, the old Jewish quarter, and the Albaycin, the old Arab quarter, the amazing tiled Plaza Nueva I think is called and the amazing Cathedral, Enjoy, the weather must be spectacular, maybe the famous Seville orange trees are beginning to bloom!

you are so lucky! you have to go to puerto santa maria. it’s where christopher columbus docked the santa maria and if memory serves it should be there. my mom took us on a three month trip around europe when we were 12 and 14. it was the best trip of my life! we camped through europe – some of the campsites are amazing – especially the one at Camping Estartit, Torroella de Montgrí, Spain. so amazing. anyways puerto santa maria is a must see. i hope you have a great rest of your trip!

Oh! Seville! My husbands home city! Here are tips that are not published in guide books: new trendy area, lots of cafe-art galleries, where artists now work and live (soho 30 years ago like but with an Andalucian unique flavour plus the 2000 years history to back it) the name of the area: ALAMEDA de Hércules.
For a pit-stop great for kids, the BEST pizza in Spain, hand made, all ingredients are organic and flown from Italy, the entrepreneur owner is an italian guy that is living his passion setting up this place there… They sell portions and you can take them and eat them outside under the famous Roman Ancient Alameda Columns…where your kids can run free for a while…

    Enjoy!

Hey Jordan, I love your blog – it’s simply amazing and Moses and Roman are so cute!

Just a tip for you with all your traveling, keep maps from all your holidays in a box. These are just as golden as the photographs you take, but they include all your notes, scribbling, wear and tear.

Looking over my map box last night made me so glad my mother kept them all, looking at them reminded me of holidays to Europe I had when I was 7. I thought it would be nice you you, Paul and the boys, plus they look fabulous hung up on the wall as art!

    Bye 🙂

Lovely! I miss Portugal, and Sevilla!
I know what you mean about just having to do it. My fiance said to me the other day about traveling how different we are. Him, he waits until he has the money to travel. Me? I find a way to do it, regardless of funds. Perhaps that’s why I’ve traveled to 10 more countries than him 😉

I’m looking forward to posts on Morocco! That’s where we’ll be spending our honeymoon 🙂
