A Red Balloon in Rome

We fly back this afternoon, but our trip to Rome has been so good. It can be hard to travel with small kids, even the most well laid plans can be interrupted by a toddler. We’ve tried to come in with low expectations and a generally slower pace and we’ve been pleasantly surprised.  My favorite memory from the trip was after an amazing dinner the first night the kids were starting to get fidgety so I took them out while Paul waited for the bill. In the little alleyway were some street musicians and the kids started dancing in the street. As people walked by they smiled and started dancing with them for a bit. It was really fun. Then a man walking by with a red balloon handed the balloon to Moses. It was so funny because he didn’t really say anything and he barely even stopped walking, It was just this serendipitous exchange that was totally magic. Moses was so happy he almost passed out, but didn’t stop dancing. The rest of the evening Moses walked around Rome clutching his little red balloon. It was pretty adorable.

I’m partnering with Federated Media to host a little contest on Flickr where you could win a $500 gift certificate to Best Buy. All you have to do is upload a photo to Flickr that captures a family memory. Then make sure the photo is tagged public so we can see it and then add the tag: #CapturedPhotoContest_OhHappyDay You can find the official contest rules right here. The contest ends on December 24th, good luck!

Your story just reminded me of the book “The Boy and the Red Balloon” !!! Such a great story about the adventures of a young boy in Paris. I can’t wait to see the movie!

Funny thing: when I saw this, I immediately thought to myself, “Wait, I thought they were in Rome, what are they doing at the Venetian in Las Vegas.” Frrrrrrrrrrrr. Your life makes me drool. xo!
