Don’t quit your day job

I don’t remember who came up with the idea but when my friends were in town last week someone suggested we take pictures of people in front of the Eiffel Tower with my vintage polaroid camera and then go out to dinner with our earnings. It sounded like a fun challenge and the entrepreneur in me was curious if it would work. It was hilarious! As an adult I’m not used to rejection like that! After two hours we’d made 45 euros. Not enough to pay for dinner but not bad either! It was a lot of work but ended up being really fun to interact with all the people. I’m glad I have friends who think doing things like this is a great way to spend an afternoon. Would you ever do anything like this? It’s essentially a lemonade stand.

Thanks to Charlotte Beck for the photo.

I used to do this a lot when I was a kid… but I am not so sure now? maybe more so if I was in a different country or town? Great idea, I can imagine it would be really fun… actually I am going out of town in a few weeks with a group of design students to a “we can create” symposium in Auckland… maybe I might just suggest it?

When I was in school, I always thought about doing this in Central Park at the top of the Reservoir where everyone stops to have their photo taken with the NYC skyline in the background….Maybe now I’ll actually try it! Such a fun idea!

So cool. I love it. And I love that my kids are old enough that we can start doing things like this under the guise of a “kids’ activity”.

Maybe in a couple of years I can convince my husband to let us travel the world and do fun little projects like this along the way . . . I will add polaroid pics to my list!

This is such a great idea! I might ask my friend to do this with me at the Opera House in Sydney.
