Apartment Tour: Bedroom

Here is the bedroom. I’ll try and post the bathroom this afternoon.

Photo 1: Bed and Bedding from Pottery Barn. There isn’t a lot of closet space so Paul got the closet and I use the armoire. The armoire is from Ikea. We put up velvet curtains because we like the bedroom to be dark in the mornings.

Photo 2: Every three months I try to go through my closet and clean stuff out. It is the only way things fit. I painted and wallpapered the armoire see my post about it here.

Photo 3: Ikea dresser. There used to be a big mirror above the dresser but I took it down. Hat rack from Target.

Photo 4: There used to be this settee here but I sold it last month to make room for little bebe. This wall is where he would have lived if we stayed.

Photo 5: This is the light fixture, I got it at the Alameda Flea Market.

This bedroom is ideal. I would love to wake up in it! But not while you’re living there cause that would be weird.

Jordan, I’m trying to figure out closet organization right now. where do you put your pants? I didn’t see them hanging.

They are hanging next my dresses. I bought those metal hangers that have multiple bars on one hook. If I had more space they would each have their own hanger with clips .

this is by far my favorite room – simply stunning. that armoire from ikea is a great find, it looks very expensive. it is very organized also…my clothes end up all over the place!

My favorite part of this room?

The yellow circle suitcase. Love it and obscene amount. It looks so great as a pop of color!

I love your closet organization. I am wondering how you keep your sweaters and cardigans. Do you fold them and stack them somewhere or are they hanging with your other shirts? I always have this dilemma, my folded sweater pile keeps growing and tipping over…

I love the little round yellow suitcase.

By the way, do you know an online source for beautiful baskets? Not the junk craft stores have, but really well made things. I got some several years ago that I adore from Williams-Sonoma, but they don’t carry them anymore.

I love love love the armoire. I just moved into a new place and am in need of some extra closet space. I was going to just go buy something from ikea, but wasn’t too excited about it because they don’t have anything that matches my colors. Can you give me tips on how to paint and wallpaper it please? DId you have to prep it prior to painting? Thanks!

    Hey Jordan,
I don’t typically blog surf or stalk…whichever term you prefer, but I did tonight and I found your blog from Ashlynn’s. I love your blog. Do you remember runnning into eachother in Jackson Hole years ago? That was ages ago! Glad to hear you’re doing well and expecting. Good luck with that. Aubree (used to be Twiggs)

I checked your previous armoire post, and I was delighted to see that I own the same armoire. I’d always felt it was a bit too rustic for me, and you’ve emboldened me to paint it! I’m curious about your other modifications. It seems as if you lowered the shelf in the main portion and removed all but one of the shelves in the smaller portion. True?

Robin: I hang most of my Cardigans. I have some that I keep folded in my dresser.

Anonymous: It is pretty straightforward. Just paint it and wallpaper it. No fancy tricks.

Aubree: Hi! How are you? I had forgotten about that run in in Jackson. I peeked at your blog. Cute kids!

Gina: The armoire is configured so you can change it. The only modification we made is added a hanging pole on the section to the right.

I just love what you’ve done with the space! Your closet is DARLING! I actually blogged about you on my own blog. You’ll see the post go live tomorrow.

    Keep up the great work!

Please tell me how you refinished the armoire. Was it difficult with alot of sanding involved. I think I have to have it. I need an entertainment armoire for my family room in an odd size because the cut out in the wall is off centered. Would it work for that? The only thing is I’m in Florida and we don’t have Ikea. I just can’t tell you how excited I am about the armoire. I have my tv sitting on the ugliest little table because I just haven’t found anything I like. You did such a great job with it. And I love your blog too.
